About Us

Our Work

In rural India, children lack access to good books and literature, making it challenging for them to read and think critically. Many schools also lack libraries, limiting their exposure to stories and language development. We are working closely with government school children aged 4 to 15, aiming to develop a reading culture and improve language skills. Through shared listening circles, independent reading, and storytelling, we help children connect with stories and their own experiences. This engagement with reading fosters critical and creative thinking, empowering them to navigate life effectively. We set up libraries in schools, conduct activities like read-aloud and book talks, and train teachers to maintain the library independently. The children's positive response indicates their love for reading and newfound confidence. Despite the pandemic, our reading rooms have enabled continuous educational endeavors for government school children, fostering reading habits.

Why: In rural India, children lack access to quality children's literature that encourages reading and critical thinking. Villages lack a reading culture, and children have limited access to storybooks and good literature. The traditional practice of hearing stories from elders is also gradually disappearing due to increased technology and media usage.

How: We closely work with government school children aged 4 to 15, focusing on foundational language development and cultivating a love for books and reading. Our approach involves encouraging them to participate in shared listening circles followed by independent reading.
